Colour Therapy - ‘Colour Medicine is truly, the medicine of the future.’ Klotsche,

Colour Therapies can be split into 2 distinct specialist areas:

1. Colour Light Therapy, which is also sometimes referred to as Chromotherapy is a powerful method of treatment for various ailments and diseases using filtered light. (Irradiation and Colourpuncture are other similar techniques)

2. Colour Therapy looks at the psychological and mood enhancing properties of colour vibrations and the treatment involves using pigment. (Silk scarf treatment and Interior Colour Balancing are other techniques in this area)

What exactly is Colour Light Therapy?

Chromotherapy or Colour Light Therapy is a method of treatment that uses the visible spectrum of electromagnetic radiation to cure and alleviate diseases. It is a non-invasive therapy, which introduces the optimum balance of colour energies into the human organism in order to promote harmony and balance between the body, mind and spirit.

Colour Light Therapy can balance energy, aid creativity and learning, release blockages as well as alleviate and cure many physical, mental and emotional conditions. These include ailments such as asthma, arthritis, nervous and mental disorders, depression, digestive ailments, skin problems, blood and circulation problems, fevers, rheumatism and as part of the treatment for many serious illness such as MS, cancers and Aids. Colour Light Therapy sessions can also speed up recovery after an illness or an operation.

How does it work?

Every creature is engulved in light that affects its health conditions. All organs, cells and atoms exist as energy, and each form has its frequency or vibrational energy. Each of our organs and energy centres vibrates and harmoniseswith the frequencies of colour. When various parts of the body deviate from these expected normal vibrations, one can assume that the body is either diseased or at least not functioning properly. The vibratory rates inherent in the vibrational technique (chromotherapy) are such that they balance the diseased energy pattern found in the body. For in every organ there is an energetic level at which the organ functions best. Any departure from that vibratory rate results in pathology, whereas restoring the appropriate energy levels to the physical organ results in a healed body.

The common feature of many curative systems of treatment, whether it is Ayurveda, acupuncture, homeopathy, physiotherapy, radiotherapy, aromatherapy, reflexology or chromotherapy, is to somehow apply vibrations of one kind or another in such a manner that the body can be put back on the health track. Most systems induce vibrations indirectly, but there are a few in which the vibrations are used directly upon the body, and chromotherapy is one of them.

A centuries old concept.

Ancient observation chromotherapy is a centuries-old concept. The history of colour medicine is as old as that of any other medicine. Phototherapy (light therapy) was practised in ancient Egypt, Greece, China and India. The Egyptians utilised sunlight as well as colour for healing. The ancient Ayurvedic physician Charaka, who lived in the sixth century BC, recommended sunlight to treat a variety of diseases.

So how is Colour Light Therapy different to Colour Therapy?

Colour Therapy monitors the way your life events are affecting your health, and directs you in the use of therapeutic colour techniques. Treatments are usually centred on the psychological and mood enhancing aspects of colour vibrations, and techniques are many and varied and are usually combined together in order for the patient to progress fully. These can include the use of coloured silks, solarised water and food, colour breathing, visualisation and meditation; creative expression therapy and last but not least colour counselling advice for the home environment and/or clothing.
